Ofsted Report March 2014

Following our Ofsted inspection on 6th & 7th March the final report has now been published.  King Edward VI School has been recognised as a 'Good' school with many outstanding features.

I would like to thank the staff, students and governors for their hard work, not just during the inspection but over the last two years. The positive attitudes to learning observed in lessons reflect our enhanced focus on teaching and learning since the last inspection. It is also very rewarding to see the students' positive comments about the wider opportunities at King Edward VI School. The actions identified to move the school towards outstanding reflect our current priorities and we will be working with staff and governors to ensure that these are embedded in daily practice.

Acting Headteacher

BBC School News Report 2014

Welcome to the BBC School News Report 2014

Thursday 27th March 2014, a group of pupils from King Edward VI School, Lichfield are expecting to join around 800 schools across the UK making the news.

The pupils are taking part in BBC News School Report, a BBC project to engage 11-16 year-olds in the news.

Ex-teacher and BBC presenter, Huw Edwards, is lending his support to the project. He says: "I am involved because I want to give young people the chance to make the news themselves, and I want to share the principles of good journalism."

Reports from other schools involved in the project can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/schoolreport

GCSE French
Controlled Assessment Information

In the week preceding the half term holidays (10th-14th Feb), both set 1 GCSE French classes in Year 11 (Mrs Briden & Mrs Baker) will receive their written Controlled Assessment tasks on the topic of ‘School’.  Preparation should take place during the half-term holiday, in order to complete the CA in the first week back (24th-28th Feb).  In order to help with their planning, students should refer to work in their exercise books and textbooks, as well as their individual copies of the following 3 resources produced by the department: Raising A to A*, Stylistic vocab and Complex sentences, Improving Verbs.

The written component is worth 30% of the final overall grade, therefore preparation at this stage is critical.
