Students at King Edward VI follow a curriculum based on the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9. This includes:
English, Mathematics, Science, French and German, Art, Design Technology, Drama, Geography, History, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Music, Physical Education and Religious Education.
The emphasis in Key Stage 3 is on cross-curricular skills in order to develop students who have a well rounded knowledge and the transferrable skills that students need in all subjects.
The majority of subjects continue the Key Stage 3 Curriculum to the end of Year 9; but core subjects study a transition curriculum which follows the National Curriculum but supports the transition to Key Stage 4.
We operate a two-week timetable with twenty-five lessons per week. Please see the Curriculum Plan below:
Further information regarding the individual subjects and their content can be found in the subject pages of the website or by contacting the relevant Head of Department via office@keslichfield.org.uk
Assessment at KS3 is through a combination of Classwork, Homework and Formally Assessed tasks. In the Autumn term at the year 7 parents evening there is a presentation outlining more detail on this, please see below:
