Pupil Premium

Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.

Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds:

  • generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school
  • often do not perform as well as their peers

The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.

At King Edward VI School we are committed to supporting all of our students to reach their potential. Our Pupil Premium Strategy outlines how the Pupil Premium will be used to improve the progress and raise the standard of achievement for students who are eligible for Free School Meals, Ever 6 (children who have been in receipt of FSM within the last 6 years), Looked After Children/Adopted Children, Children whose parents are currently in the armed forces.
