On Saturday 19th September, the new Senior 5 and Assoicates team were delighted to represent the school at the celebrations marking the 317th birthday of Dr Samuel Johnson, Lichfield’s most celebrated literary figure. Thank you to Munty for writing the following account of the day, which gives a wonderful insight into the Senior 5 and Associates experience.

We began the day by taking part in the traditional procession through Lichfield city centre, joining members of the Johnson Society and the wider local community to celebrate Johnson’s life and legacy. It was a privilege to represent the school at such an important local occasion and to be part of a tradition that brings the history of our city to life.

Following the procession and wreath-laying ceremony, we enjoyed singing hymns together before receiving commemorative Johnson coins, which were a special memento of the day.

The evening concluded with a wonderful three-course dinner, giving us the opportunity to meet and speak with members of the Johnson Society and other guests. The atmosphere was warm and celebratory, and it was particularly special to experience some of the evening’s long-standing traditions, including the speeches and celebratory toast.

As the new Senior 5 and Associates team, it was a fantastic opportunity for us to come together, represent the school and experience an important part of Lichfield’s cultural heritage. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and are proud to have played a small part in celebrating the legacy of Dr Samuel Johnson.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the occasion so memorable and to those who captured the day through photographs.

We would also like to thank all members of the Senior 5 and Associates team for representing the school so positively at this special community event and for their contribution to celebrating an important part of Lichfield's heritage.
