Football U15 County Cup Winners

Year 10 Boys Football - County Champions!
KES 2 - 0 Trentham
The Year 10 boys have been showing off their talents on the football pitch all year and they went into the final on Monday 16th June 2025 undefeated this year. The lads had shown great moments and team spirit throughout the year. In their first game of the season, 3-0 down at half time things were not looking so bright, the boys rallied together with a magnificent second half to win the game 4-3, which set a foundation of belief for the season ahead. In the earlier rounds the boys beat;
- Wolgarston (5-2)
- Abbot Beyne (4-0)
- JCB Academy (3-0)
- Codsall (Semi-final) (2-2)
The semi-final was a nail biter against Codsall, which finished 2-2 where the boys held their nerve to secure victory on penalties. The task was now clear, one more game to go in the quest to become county cup champions.
The Final
It was only a four day wait after the semi-final and Monday had arrived, the day of the final, 7pm against Trentham at Stafford Town FC. The boys returned to school around 5pm to travel together, this soon turned into a game of head tennis on the courts which epitomised the friendship and camaraderie that ran so strongly through the team all season.
Soon enough the lads finished their final preparations, and it was time for kick-off. A cagey first half saw very few chances and some excellent defending from the King Edwards back line and a very brave header saw Warren side-lined with a cut to the head.
As the teams emerged for the second half, so did Warren with his head bandaged ready to go to battle once more, showing the fantastic spirt and desire this team have. A much better second half saw King Edwards take a 1-0 lead through a ruthless finish by George.
There were still 20 minutes on the clock the boys knew they would have to earn this one. Step up Man of the Match - Harry, who to this point had marshalled the back line incredibly well building a brick wall in front of the King Edwards goal. The back four stood strong and defended superbly with a hard-working midfield in front of them.
Into the final minute and it was tense, a great turn by Declan on the halfway line, allowed him to slide the ball through to Captain - Ollie, who slotted past the keeper to relive the tension.
2-0 and the full-time whistle blew, let the celebrations begin - County Cup Champions!
A word from Mr Smith:
I thought the boys showed incredible bravery out on the pitch. What I love most about them is that they are not reliant on one or two individuals, they all play their equal part in every game. From 1 to 14 they were outstanding in the final and I am incredibly proud of them.
