Year 12 Business and Accounting Trip to the University of Derby
A Day of Inspiration and Innovation!
We are excited to share the highlights of our recent trip to Derby University with our Year 12 Business and Accounting students. The day was an incredible opportunity for them to experience university life, engage with academics, and get hands-on exposure to real-world business challenges.
University Campus Experience
Our students had the chance to explore the vibrant Derby University campus, gaining a sense of what university life would be like should they decide to pursue a business-related degree. They heard first hand from current students about the opportunities available, from academic programmes to extracurricular activities and opportunities to work abroad, which sparked great interest and discussion among the group.
Interactive Challenge with a Global Tech Giant
The highlight of the day was a truly unique experience. Students participated in an interactive challenge hosted by one of the world’s largest online technology firms. They were tasked with brainstorming ideas to help inform customers about the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI). Working in small teams, they developed innovative concepts that they later presented to a senior leader from the company.
We are thrilled to announce that two of the groups were recognized for their outstanding creativity and innovative ideas. As a result, they were awarded Derby University merchandise as a well-deserved prize! It was a proud moment for both the students and staff, as it showcased their ability to think outside the box and present ideas to senior business leaders.
A Day to Remember
Overall, the trip was a thoroughly enjoyable and enriching experience for all involved. It not only provided valuable insights into higher education and career opportunities but also encouraged teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
We are proud of how our students engaged in all aspects of the trip and are confident that their experiences will inspire them as they continue their studies in Business and Accounting.
