Year 9 Enjoy a Science-Filled Adventure at Disneyland Paris
On Sunday 1 March 2026, forty excited Year 9 students departed School with Mrs Eyles, Mr Tizard, Miss Farrington and Mr Watson for a four‑day educational visit to France. After a long but lively coach journey, the group arrived at the château that would be their home for the trip, giving everyone a chance to settle in before the activities began.
A Thrilling Start at Walt Disney Studios Park
Monday saw students dive straight into the action with a full day at the Walt Disney Studios Park. From adrenaline‑fuelled attractions like the Tower of Terror—engineered to drop faster than gravity—to behind‑the‑scenes glimpses of film magic, there was plenty to enjoy.
In the afternoon, the group attended the Science Live! Conference, where leading scientists delivered inspiring talks on the physics behind rollercoasters and other real‑world applications. A highlight was a presentation from a researcher involved in the development of the COVID‑19 vaccine, who linked her work to the Biology “Infection and Response” topic and explained how vaccines are created to protect the body from disease.
The day ended with dinner in the main Disneyland Park, followed by a spectacular fireworks and drone display over the iconic castle.
A Day of Disney Magic
Tuesday offered students the chance to explore the main Disneyland Park in full. From 'Big Thunder Mountain' to 'It’s a Small World', there was no shortage of classic rides and attractions. Many students embraced the Disney spirit wholeheartedly—donning ears, waving Mickey gloves and even wielding lightsabers as they made their way around the park.
Homeward Bound
The journey home began on Wednesday. Although the group missed their early ferry, the sunshine made the wait far more enjoyable. Students spent the time playing rugby, relaxing with friends and filming TikToks. Throughout the entire trip, the weather remained beautifully clear, adding to the experience.
A Memorable Trip for All
It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved – combining science, adventure and unforgettable memories!
