Lichfield School's Speaking Competition
On Friday 27th February, three sixth from students - Niamh (Introducer), Danielle (Main Speaker) and Jack (Summariser) took part in the annual Lichfield Rotary Club Debate Competition at Lichfield Cathedral.
This year, the competition was chaired by Dave Robertson MP. The title of the debate was ‘Immigration: who wins, who loses?’ This topic was challenging and allowed the team to research an interesting subject widely discussed in the media.
Working closely with Mr Bailey in the lead‑up to the competition, the students refined their speeches and delivered them with confidence. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop public‑speaking skills in the unique and inspiring setting of Lichfield Cathedral. The team — along with their supporters — also enjoyed hearing a range of perspectives from other schools, making for an engaging and memorable evening.
