Marking
As far as is reasonable the school promotes a common, manageable policy on marking written work that is implemented by all teachers across all curriculum areas. Teams use the following codes when correcting work and use them as a basis to produce more detailed instructions for students.

Spelling
When supporting your child with spellings ….
- refer to etymology/ meaning (proto – original)
- break words into sounds ( c-o-m-p-o-n-e-n-t)break words into syllables ( pro-duc- tion)
- break words into affixes (techno- logy)
- use a mnemonic ( I before e when the sound is ee, brief
- refer to words in the same family (eg design, sign, signal)
- refer to words within words (c there’s one in component)
- use a key word ( presentation for other tion words)
- visual memory ( look- cover- write- check)
