King Edward VI School Lichfield is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Physical Education Teacher to join a high-performing collaborative department. All Key Stage 3 & 4 students access at least two hours of PE each week in addition to high levels of participation in the wide range of extra-curricular sports. A specialism in netball would be particularly useful.  This is appointment is temporary to cover a maternity leave. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will join the department until July with the possibility of this being extended until December 2019.

PE is popular and successful from Key Stage 3 through to our thriving, successful Sixth Form. We are looking for a creative and adaptable teacher with a commitment to extra-curricular activities. We require a Clerical Assistant to work as part of our Examinations Team on a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Examinations Officer to support the smooth running of internal and external examinations.

The successful candidate will have excellent administrative skills, computer literacy and be highly efficient and organised. They will be able to deal sensitively with a variety of situations with staff, exam invigilators, students and parents.  A calm, flexible approach, especially during busy examination days is essential.

This is a casual post which would suit someone with the flexibility to make themselves available for the equivalent of approximately thirteen weeks per year (currently early January, before/after Easter and from mid-May to the end of June).  This is scheduled at the beginning of each academic year. The job description is generic but the successful candidate’s role will link specifically to examinations.  During busy examination periods the role requires a substantial number of full day commitments.

The salary scale is the Local Authority’s Grade 3 £16,863 – £17,391 per annum, pro-rata. Starting salary approximately £9.83 per hour which includes an allowance for holiday pay.

Sports Centre Duty Officer

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Sports Centre Duty Officer position for the Sports Centre building at the school. We are looking for someone interested in working 30 hours a week, ideally with the flexibility to provide planned holiday coverage for colleagues. The reception area and other facilities are currently undergoing significant refurbishment which will further improve the building for flexible use.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and self-motivated individual who will be responsible for providing on-site support at the Sports Centre and the Astro-Turf under the direction of Senior Staff at the school. Weekly activities include football, hockey, tennis, netball, tae kwon-do, kickboxing, badminton, basketball etc. This position is required to cover a working week from approximately 4:30pm – 10:00pm on weekdays throughout the year, with coverage at weekends on a rota basis. We have one person in post and are looking for a second post holder to work alongside them, including time when both staff will be on site. A request for less than 30 hours would also be considered.

You will provide supervision and security for the community use of the school. Duties to include: opening and locking of the buildings for community activities as directed, which are evenings and Saturdays; provide on-site security; help with the setting up and clearing away of equipment, ensure that correct procedures are adopted in the event of an emergency; undertaking general maintenance and keeping the building clean and tidy. There may also be occasions when you would be assisting with work around other school buildings.

The salary scale is the Local Authority’s Grade 4, £17,391 – £18,319 per annum (£9.01 – £9.50 per hour) and would be pro rata to the number of hours worked. Based on a 30-hour week the actual salary would be £14,336 – £14,853 plus evening allowance.
