Caretaker/Site Technician

We are looking for a School Caretaker/Site Technician to join our well established site team at King Edward VI School Lichfield for students aged 11-18 years. The successful candidate will have a positive outlook, be reliable, flexible in attitude and able to cope with the varied nature of the role.   He/she will need to be able to use their initiative, be proactive to the needs of the school, have a good understanding of Health & Safety/COSSH Regulations and be able to take on small projects as required. The post holder will undertake general maintenance work around the site and carry out grounds work as and when required. The role also involves moving parcels; putting up and taking down exam desks; moving furniture and providing support for school events.

The role involves occasional weekend (usually 1 in 6) and occasional evening work to cover lettings and other events that occur during the school year.

The post is full time, permanent, 37 hours per week, whole year. The usual working hours are 9:30am – 5:30pm, although at times this will need to be adjusted to provide coverage until 6:30pm or evening/weekend hours as outlined above.

We are seeking a full-time Administrative Support Assistant/Receptionist to start as soon as possible. The post will be temporary during a transition period for the school as we undergo some substantial building changes which will change the profile of the school’s reception and administration services. The role will involve support for the school’s general administration including reception duties, parents’ evening booking system, support for educational visits and other home-school communication. The post holder will undertake first-aid duties and be willing to undertake any necessary training.

The successful candidate will be a well organised team player, with strong ICT capabilities and possess key communication skills to effectively work with students, colleagues and visitors in a friendly, welcoming manner.

The Salary Scale is the Local Authority’s Grade 4 £17,391 – £18,319 per annum. Actual starting salary pro rata will be approximately £15,036.

We are looking for a part-time Pastoral Support Assistant with strong communication skills to provide day-to-day support for our students. Working alongside Achievement Leaders and the Inclusion Manager, you will promote positive learning attitudes and inclusion; liaise with parents and staff; and carry out a range of duties to support our students’ social, emotional and academic needs. The role has a particular focus on Year 10 and Year 11 students but there will be opportunities to work with students across the school.

The salary scale is the Local Authority’s Grade 5 (£18,319 – £19,819) pro rata. Actual starting salary pro-rata will be in the range of £15,489 – £16,441.

We are seeking to appoint an Examinations Officer to oversee all aspects of internal and external examinations management within the school. The post holder will have excellent administrative skills, computer literacy and be highly efficient and organised.  They will be articulate and able to deal sensitively with a variety of situations with staff, exam invigilators, students, parents and examination board representatives. The ability to be clear and assertive whilst remaining calm, composed, tactful and flexible is essential.  The successful candidate will also link with our Finance Team, particularly regarding payments and transactions linked to examinations and invigilators.

It is expected that the post holder will be available to work during the summer holidays, particularly in mid to late August, in order to process examination results and support the post-results service.

Core hours are 32.5 per week, with flexibility depending on time of year as longer working hours are required during external examinations (May/June). Term Time, plus 10 days to be worked during exam results period in school holidays.

The salary scale is the Local Authority’s Grade 8 (£25,463 – £29,909 per annum).   This position is term time plus two weeks in August, details of which will be discussed at interview.  Starting salary pro rata would be in the range £21,128 – 23,873 per annum.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Finance Officer with an educational background to join our small friendly team. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the overall financial and administrative organisation within the office, including overseeing the work of a small team.

The post holder will support and work closely with the Business Manager in providing a high level financial and administrative service to the school and its stakeholders.

You will need to be proactive in providing management information and be an effective communicator; take ownership of new and ongoing projects and have excellent attention to detail. The successful candidate will be professional in their approach, show discretion and confidentiality, be self- motivated, able to problem solve effectively and work on their own initiative.
