Medical/Disability

Medical difficulties and Disabilities

A number of students have medical difficulties or long term disabilities, both physical and mental, that impact on their daily lives. As a school we understand the importance of our knowledge of these conditions and the support we can offer the students through this understanding. We also recognise the anxiety that medical conditions/disabilities often cause and the importance of the parent being central to a system of care in order for you to feel confident your son or daughter is well taken care of.

All students with a life threatening medical difficulty, that may require immediate attention, will have a Care Plan in school. The Care Plan outlines the student’s medical condition, symptoms and action to be taken in an emergency. The school has designated first aiders and, if necessary, can undertake further training to support your child’s needs.

Staffordshire LEA recognise that, unfortunately, King Edward VI site is not accessible to students with significant mobility difficulties. As we are a split site, over several floors, we are not able to accommodate wheelchairs. For students with significant physical disabilities it is advised to contact the local council for further advice

Should you have any queries relating to medical difficulties please contact the school.
