Revision Support 2009

Students need all the help they can get during the revision period leading up to exams. Parents can make a difference to their final performance by giving them support and practical advice during the lead-up to exams. It needn't be an ordeal for them or for you!

Revision time is a flashpoint in the relationships between most parents and their teenage offspring. Encouragement to revise may be perceived as nagging. Some parents find themselves treading the fine line between gentle nudging and what might be taken as incessant moaning, continuously risking out and out war. Delicate family dynamics can mean that, at this point in a young person's education, all most parents can do is sit back and wait.

group talk outdoors johnson hall2.jpgThe students of King Edward VI School all deserve the very best that we can provide. Whatever the interests or abilities of our students, we try to provide opportunities. We are a school which takes pride in its achievements and traditions. We recognise our place as an important part of the community and environment. We emphasise the quality of learning, teaching and student experiences. One of the main features of the school is that our students want to be successful and are encouraged to achieve their best. We have high expectations of what is possible. Parents certainly support our drive for high standards and support children both with progress in school work and in their extracurricular activities.

Science GCSE Coursework

For all Year 11 students and parents.

The majority of Y11 students are currently completing GCSE coursework in Science lessons and this accounts for a large proportion of their GCSE.  Applied Science students are doing a Work-related report and a Suitability test.  Additional Science students are carrying out an Investigation.  The vast majority of the writing up has to be completed in lessons under the supervision of the teacher and deadlines have been set by each teacher and the students informed.  The work completed by this deadline will be taken in and marked and so students who miss a lesson need to make sure that they catch up on work missed before the deadline.  Students are allowed, however, to prepare/research extra notes at home to bring in and add to their folders of work.

If there are any problems, do send a note in with your child to either the Science teacher or myself.

Mrs J. Turner.
